EcoFutures is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced ecologist to lead and grow our ecology practice in NSW.

You might already lead a team or practice and be looking for greater freedom to build and shape its direction. Or you might be a senior practising ecologist ready to take the next step and build something of your own.

This is an opportunity to combine strong technical ecology with the chance to develop people, grow client relationships, build a practice and influence the direction of a staff-owned environmental business.

Ecology that influences what happens next

EcoFutures is the ecology practice of the Alluvium Group. With a presence across Australia and internationally, our work spans on-ground ecology through to landscape-scale strategy, planning and policy.

We undertake flora and fauna surveys, wetland and waterway assessments, ecological monitoring, spatial analysis and ecological modelling. But collecting ecological information is only the beginning.

We use that evidence to understand how landscapes function and help governments and organisations decide what to protect, where to invest and how landscapes should be managed into the future.

Our ambition is to play a bigger role in those decisions. We want our ecology work to help clients look beyond the immediate project, think about the future and develop policy, strategy and investment priorities grounded in the best available science.

We don’t want ecology to end with identifying what is there and documenting the impacts. We want ecology to influence what happens next.

We’re looking for someone who wants to play a leading role in the next stage of EcoFutures’ growth in NSW.

That means building a team, growing our presence in the NSW market, strengthening relationships with key clients and helping shape our ecology practice in NSW, while contributing to opportunities across Australia and internationally.

This isn’t about inheriting an established team and following a predefined path. You’ll have the opportunity to help build the team and practice, pursue the types of work where you believe ecology can have the greatest impact and play a significant role in determining what comes next.

And leadership here doesn’t mean leaving ecology behind. You can remain deeply involved in technical work while developing people, leading major projects, building client relationships and contributing to bigger environmental decisions.
