CAD Draftsperson

About the role

This is not your everyday Drafter role. As a CAD/CAM Drafter at Alchemy, you will play a pivotal role in our creative construction team, contributing to the conceptualisation and design of activation builds while ensuring exceptional service and delivery. You will collaborate closely with our community of clients, suppliers, and internal teams to transform design visions into captivating experiences, aligning with our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality control.

What you'll be doing

Interpret client and internal design briefs, translating them into build design concepts that align with client objectives and Alchemy build practices

• Develop technical drawings, material & finishes boards, to communicate construction build concepts effectively

• Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure seamless execution of all builds

• Set up assembly drawings and floor plans for installation

• Develop CNC files, entering correct parameters and exporting job programs to the machine

• Optimising designs for efficient manufacturing and construction

• Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant building codes and industry standards

• Providing technical support and guidance to our production team throughout the construction process

• Collaborating with the project management team to meet deadlines and deliver projects on time

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a CAD Draftsperson or Technical Designer in the carpentry/cabinet making industry

• Skilled in using design software 2D and 3D (AutoCad and Sketchup preferably)

• CNC programming with AlphaCAM an advantage

• Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop and illustrator)

• Google G Suite user experience

• Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and industry best practices

• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and other technical documents

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

• A strong portfolio showcasing relevant project experience
