About the Opportunity: 

We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to appoint to Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer positions with the East Metropolitan Health Service. This will be a recruitment pool with Permanent and Fixed-Term positions on offer, working Full-Time hours. Fixed-Term appointments will have the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. 

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31st March 2027.

In these positions, the successful applicants will provide cultural liaison and practical support to staff throughout the Royal Perth Hospital and other RPBMLG sites. Should you be successful, you will assist with the development, planning, and implementation of culturally appropriate health care to Aboriginal patients and provide cultural consultancy and education to Royal Perth Hospital staff. Key duties include, but are not limited to;

• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality health care and improved clinical outcomes to Aboriginal patients, their carers, and family network.
• Acts as a cultural advocate for patients and carers.
• Participates in planning for effective and timely discharge from the hospital.
• Assists patients and their carers in referral and handover to culturally appropriate community agencies.
• Performs duties in accordance with the EMHS Vision and Values, WA Health Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety and Health legislation, the Disability Services Act and the Equal Opportunity Act and Government, WA Health, EMHS and Departmental / Program specific policies and procedures.

About the East Metropolitan Health Service:

The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 828,000 Western Australians in its catchment area.
