The Senior Ranger Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination and supervision of the Thamarrurr Ranger Program. The position oversees the delivery of natural and cultural resource management activities across the Thamarrurr region while supporting Traditional Owners' aspirations for caring for Country. Working closely with the Healthy Country Program Manager, the Senior Ranger Coordinator ensures operational plans are implemented safely, efficiently and in accordance with funding agreements, cultural priorities and organisational objectives.

The role provides leadership to both Men's and Women's Ranger teams, supporting workforce development, mentoring local Indigenous Rangers and promoting a positive, culturally safe workplace. The position also develops strong partnerships with Traditional Owners, government agencies, researchers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality environmental and cultural outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate activities including:

• Fire management
• Weed management
• Feral animal control
• Sea Country management
• Cultural site protection
• Biodiversity monitoring
• Track and infrastructure maintenance
• Cultural knowledge transfer activities.
• Ensure compliance with funding agreements, work plans and reporting requirements.
• Regularly travel throughout the Thamarrurr region to supervise field activities.

About You:

• Demonstrated experience leading teams within natural and cultural resource management.
• Strong understanding of land and sea management practices in Northern Australia.
• Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal people and Traditional Owners in remote communities.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• Ability to prioritise competing workloads and meet reporting deadlines.
• Experience managing operational budgets and organisational resources.
• Sound computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• High level of integrity, accountability and professionalism.

Desirable

• Qualifications in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
• Five or more years' experience managing teams within remote Indigenous communities.
• Experience managing Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) programs.
• Experience with Working on Country programs.
• Knowledge of grant management and contract reporting.
• Experience using GIS, CyberTracker or other environmental data collection systems.

• National Police Check.
• Northern Land Council Work and Residential Permits.
• Northern Territory (Working with Children) Ochre Card.
• Minium C class drivers’ licence.
• Ability to undertake regular remote travel and extended field work.
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional overnight travel
