About the role 

Join JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa and bring your passion for pastry to life as part of our talented Culinary team. Reporting to the Director of Culinary, you will play a key role in crafting exceptional, high-quality creations for our luxury guests. We are looking for an experienced, dedicated Chef de Partie in Pastry who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen — someone who is a true team player, eager to grow their career alongside a supportive team and a thriving business. 

Critical responsibilities:  

• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers 

• Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays 

• Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served. 

• Monitor the quantity of food that is prepared. 

• Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out of stock menu items. 

• Prepare special meals or substitute items. 

• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks. 

•  Provide cooks with needed items. 

• Monitor stock of kitchen supplies and food. 

• Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program and food products. 

• Ensure the quality of the food items and notify manager if a product does not meet specifications. 

• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees 

Successful Candidates will have: 

• Relevant experience in the same or similar role in a high end restaurant or 5 star hotel environment 

• Trade qualification /be a qualified Chef 

• Strong food safety knowledge 

• Great communication skills  

• Ability to work in a team and autonomously  

• Passion for food and aspirations to grow your culinary career
