Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join Desky in a full-time capacity at our Darra, Queensland location. As Purchasing Manager, you will play a critical role in optimising our supply chain, managing vendor relationships, and supporting our operational objectives through effective procurement practices. This position is essential to maintaining Desky's competitive advantage and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives and budget constraints supporting our business across multiple countries

• Source, evaluate and select suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to achieve optimal value and quality

• Manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives

• Prepare and analyse purchasing reports, forecasts and vendor performance metrics to support decision-making

• Maintain inventory levels and coordinate with operations teams to ensure adequate stock availability

• Process purchase orders, manage requisitions and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance procurement processes

• Oversee supplier quality management and ensure adherence to specifications and delivery schedules

• Collaborate with finance, operations and other departments to support organisational needs

• Stay informed of market trends, pricing fluctuations and supply chain developments affecting procurement

What we're looking for

• Proven experience of 5+ years in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably in manufacturing or logistics environments

• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, procurement best practices and inventory control

• Strong understanding of international supply chains servicing North America, Europe and Australia

• Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and build collaborative supplier partnerships

• Proficiency in purchasing systems, ERP software and Microsoft Office applications (experience with Cin7 Core would be advantageous)

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and make informed recommendations

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the organisation

• Problem-solving capability and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all procurement documentation and records

• Relevant qualifications such as a Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent professional certifications (e.g. APICS, PMBOK) are highly valued
