Maternal & Child Health Nurse - Phone based triage

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Maternal & Child Health Nurse to join our clinical team on a part-time fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027 (with the potential for extension). This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality maternal and child health support through a telehealth model, delivering assessment, education, advice, triage and referral services to pregnant women, parents and families with children aged 0 to 5 years.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing high-quality maternal and child health assessment, support and advice through telephone and video-based consultations.
• Conducting clinical triage and facilitating referrals to appropriate health, counselling and community support services.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential electronic records and statistical data.
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
• Participating in team meetings and supporting a collaborative working environment.
• Utilising contemporary telehealth and video conferencing technology to enhance service delivery.

Available Shifts:

Week 1

• Monday: 3:30pm to 8:30pm or 3:00pm to 6:00pm
• Thursday: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Week 2

• Monday: 3:30pm to 8:30pm
• Saturday: 2:00pm to 10:30pm

Please note: 5 full days of training is required at our Bundoora office during the first two weeks of employment before commencing the regular part-time roster.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife with postgraduate qualification in Maternal and Child Health Nursing
• Minimum two years' experience in Maternal and Child Health Nursing with advanced clinical knowledge of maternal and child health practice
• Highly developed assessment, communication and clinical decision-making skills.
• Proficient computer and IT skills, with the ability to confidently navigate multiple websites, databases and systems simultaneously while providing professional and effective support during telephone consultations.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated understanding of the diverse cultural, social and religious backgrounds of children and families.
• Experience providing support and advice in a telehealth environment is highly regarded.
