Bus Driver / Yard Support

Bus Driver / Yard Support is responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of company drivers between accommodation facilities and the worksite. The role also provides general operational support within the yard to ensure efficient daily operations while maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. The position also has a 3-month review to potentially transition to full-time permanent. 

Transportation Duties

• Safely operate the company mini-bus to transport drivers and staff between accommodation and designated work locations.
• Adhere to all road traffic laws, company policies, and transport safety requirements.
• Follow scheduled transport times and communicate any delays or issues to the supervisor.
• Conduct daily pre-start inspections and post-trip checks of the vehicle.
• Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and follow safety requirements while travelling.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure it remains in a safe operating condition.
• Report vehicle faults, damage, incidents, or hazards immediately.

Yard Support Duties

When transport duties are not required, the employee will assist with operational tasks including:

• General yard housekeeping and maintaining a clean, organised work environment.
• Assisting with vehicle movements within the yard as directed.
• Assisting workshop or operations staff with basic non-mechanical tasks.
• Assisting with loading, unloading, and movement of equipment or materials where required.
• Supporting operational staff with other general duties as directed.

Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Follow all company safety rules and participate in safety briefings where required.
• Immediately report hazards, near misses, incidents, or injuries.
• Ensure safe practices are followed when transporting staff or performing yard duties.
• Use any required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working within operational areas.

Offer

• 2:1 roster (one week of day shift and one week of night shift)
• Weekly housing allowance for any local Port Hedland residents
• Fortnightly pay and superannuation paid on all hours worked

Requirements

• Valid C drivers licence
• Valid Forklift (LF) licence and experience
• Safe driving history and strong commitment to road safety
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Physically capable of performing general yard duties when required
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours if operationally required
