Secondary Teacher - Joshua Centre (Autistic Education)

About the role

The Joshua Centre is seeking a Secondary Teacher to join our special purpose educational facility that supports students on the Autism spectrum. The Joshua Centre opened in 2022 and is located on the Tyabb Campus, providing a differentiated learning program and environment better suited to the sensory needs and routines of students with Autism. We seek to see students with Autism not just survive, but instead thrive, be bold and courageous in their learning, social connection and wellbeing in order to live a full and purposeful life.

Key responsibilities

• Support student growth academically, spiritually, and personally

• Participate actively in the broader life of the College, including co-curricular activities, pastoral care, and staff collaboration

About you

• A genuine passion for teaching and Christian education

• Proven experience or understanding of autism, along with evidence informed, practical tools and strategies to support autistic children and create an inclusive and positive environment for all

• Exceptional interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and colleagues

• Commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development

• The ability to teach Mathematics and Science would be advantageous

• Must have the right to work in Australia and hold a current VIT Registration
