Occupational Therapist - Team Lead

The Opportunity  

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the growth and expansion of our team and service offerings for an experienced Occupational Therapist to become our newest IOH Team Leader.  

The Role  

We are seeking applications from Senior Occupational Therapists with demonstrated experience performing Team Leader duties or similar. As an IOH Team Leader, you will be directly responsible for supporting a team of Occupational Therapists. Applicants must have experience working within the NDIS scheme and must have a minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience.  

The successful candidate will report to the Occupational Therapy Manager, Clinical Lead, who was the winner of the 2023 Australian Allied Health Award for the category of ‘Allied Health Leadership and Management Excellence Award’.  

Day to Day  

As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for supporting, mentoring and providing supervision to a team of  Occupational Therapists,  conducting 1:1 meetings and providing technical support whilst overseeing a reduced clinical caseload. Additionally, experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:  

• Prescription major home modifications  

• Complex equipment and assistive technology prescription  

• Functional Capacity and Activity of Daily Living Assessments  

• Environmental and housing needs assessments  

• Manual Handling Training  

• Self-care, pressure care, falls, and Mobility Assessments  

• Therapeutic intervention to increase community participation and completion of activities of daily living  

The ideal candidate will have a background in delivering community and clinic-based services across NDIS and aged care settings, a strong work ethic, and excellent organisational and communication skills. This is a great opportunity to work in a professional environment delivering high-quality service to our clients.   

The Successful Applicant Must Have  

• Current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist  

• Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist  

• Demonstrated experience managing, supervising or mentoring others  

• Demonstrated sound understanding of safeguarding frameworks, with a commitment to promoting the safety and wellbeing of clients  

• Ability to apply a ‘just culture’ approach, supporting accountability, learning, and psychologically safe practice environments  

• Current vehicle and driver's licence  

• Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check, and Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain them  

• Meet vaccination requirements for health workers under Public Health Order  

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain strong relationships  

• Strong understanding of NDIS and clinical OT delivery
