Assistant Director, Practice Advisor

The Practice Quality Branch plays a critical role regulating the use of restrictive practices in services provided to NDIS participants and for ensuring behaviour support providers deliver high-quality positive behaviour supports. The Practice Advisor works as part of a team to ensure NDIS funded providers work effectively to reduce and eliminate the use of restrictive practices with people with disability.  

This is done through the development, implementation and continuous improvement of best practice evidence-based policy, guidance and advice, the delivery of data-informed risk-based oversight of the use of regulated restrictive practices, ensuring the ongoing suitability of behaviour support practitioners, and monitoring behaviour support plan quality.

The Branch works to enhance practice quality in the sector, performance improvement in behaviour support and build understanding of regulatory compliance in behaviour support practice.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide supervision and mentorship to other team members. This may include aspects of clinical practice. 
• Review, analyse and interpret data to determine appropriate regulatory or other actions under legislative and policy frameworks. 
• Have an in-depth understanding of risk assessment and compliance with regard to the use of restrictive practices, relevant legislation and policy frameworks. 
• Identify, assess and lead the resolution of complex matters, including high-risk situations requiring urgent attention. 
• With a high degree of autonomy, lead projects related to continuous improvement and innovation focusing on reducing and eliminating restrictive practices.
