Our client is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to develop sales across Queensland and the East Coast of Australia.
This role would suit an experienced plumber, wastewater installer or plumbing professional looking to use their practical industry knowledge in a technical sales and specification role. Previous sales experience is valuable but is not essential.
 
You will work closely with installers, plumbers, engineers, designers, suppliers and customers to understand project requirements, assist with product selection and develop practical solutions.
The role will have a particular focus on wastewater treatment systems, sewer pump stations, pump wells, pump pits and wastewater infrastructure upgrades.
 
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

 
Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a network of installers, agents, industry partners and key customers.
• Conduct customer meetings and on-site project visits to understand technical requirements.
• Provide technical advice and recommend appropriate wastewater treatment and infrastructure solutions.
• Assist with reviewing wastewater reports, hydraulic plans, specifications and technical documentation with support from the team.
• Prepare proposals and quotations in line with customer requirements.
• Work with plumbers, engineers, designers and contractors to assist with product specification and selection.
• Develop sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
• Manage customer pricing and commercial negotiations with support from management.
• Build strong relationships with installers, plumbers, plumbing merchants, wastewater designers and other industry stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities involving wastewater infrastructure upgrades, including sewer pump stations, pump wells and pump pits.
• Work with the Group Revenue Manager to develop sales budgets, activity reports and market intelligence.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales pipelines and reporting.
• Attend industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, products and emerging technologies.

About You
 
To be successful in this role, you will be a confident plumbing professional who understands how products work in the real world and is interested in developing a career in technical sales.
You will ideally have:

• A plumbing trade background or strong practical experience within plumbing, wastewater, drainage, pumping or associated infrastructure.
• Experience working as a plumber, plumbing supervisor, estimator, project plumber, wastewater installer or similar would be highly regarded.
• Technical sales experience is beneficial but is not essential.
• The ability to read and understand plans and technical information, or the willingness to develop these skills.
• Confidence communicating with customers and explaining technical solutions.
• An interest in developing business development, specification and relationship management skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and opportunities.
• A willingness to learn the commercial side of the role, including quotations, CRM, sales pipelines and budgets.
• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout Queensland and the East Coast as required.
