Junior/Intermediate Accountant

About the role

Working closely with accountants, managers and Partners, you will gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of privately owned businesses, family groups and individuals. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to build on existing experience, develop strong technical skills and gain greater exposure to clients and senior members of the firm. As your experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility and direct client exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals

• Preparation of BAS and other compliance obligations

• Assisting with tax planning and year-end compliance

• Preparation of working papers and supporting tax calculations

• Liaising with clients and the ATO

• Assisting senior accountants and Partners with taxation and business advisory matters

• Developing your technical knowledge across a broad range of taxation and accounting issues

About you

• 1–2 years' experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm

• A relevant accounting or commerce degree

• A good understanding of Australian taxation and accounting principles

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• A willingness to learn and take on greater responsibility

• An interest in completing, or currently undertaking, the CA or CPA program
