HVAC Project Manager

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced HVAC Project Manager to join a well-established and growing mechanical services contractor based in Sydney.

Operating for more than 30 years, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial HVAC and mechanical services projects across Sydney. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth across the business, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of commercial HVAC projects from initial handover through to commissioning and completion.

This is an opportunity to join a privately owned contractor where you will work closely with the Director and senior management team and have genuine ownership over your projects.

The Role

As HVAC Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful commercial and operational delivery of mechanical projects across Sydney.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Managing commercial HVAC projects from project award through to commissioning and handoverReviewing project specifications, drawings, scopes and contractual requirementsDeveloping and managing project programmes and ensuring key milestones are achievedManaging project budgets, forecasting, costs and overall commercial performanceManaging procurement of major HVAC equipment and materialsCoordinating subcontractors, suppliers and internal site teamsManaging variations, progress claims and project documentationLiaising directly with builders, consultants, clients, engineers and other project stakeholdersReviewing mechanical/HVAC designs and identifying potential constructability issuesWorking closely with the estimating and engineering teamsIdentifying opportunities for value engineering and alternative technical solutionsCoordinating equipment including VRV/VRF systems, AHUs, FCUs, packaged equipment, ventilation systems, ductwork, pipework and associated mechanical servicesAttending and chairing project and site meetingsManaging site progress, labour requirements and subcontractor performanceEnsuring projects comply with relevant Australian Standards, WHS requirements and company proceduresManaging testing, commissioning, defects and final project handoverBuilding strong relationships with clients and contributing to repeat business

Projects can range from smaller commercial works through to multi-million-dollar mechanical packages, with a strong pipeline of ongoing work.

About You We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

Previous experience as an HVAC Project Manager, Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Project EngineerStrong experience working for an HVAC/mechanical contractorProven commercial construction experienceExperience managing mechanical projects from award through to completionStrong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical servicesExperience managing budgets, programmes, procurement, subcontractors and variationsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specificationsStrong understanding of commercial construction processesExperience dealing directly with Tier 1/Tier 2 builders, consultants and clientsStrong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skillsA Mechanical Engineering qualification and/or HVAC trade background would be highly regarded

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of a project.

You should be comfortable making decisions, solving problems, dealing directly with builders and subcontractors, keeping projects commercially on track and ensuring the job is delivered properly.
