D&T Hydraulics is a local family-owned cylinder repair & manufacturing business. The company employs over 100 highly skilled employees from Boilermakers, Welders, Fitters, Machinists, Drafts people and TA's. This dedicated workforce is supported by technical, sales and support staff guaranteeing projects and the workforce is managed in a professional manner without compromising, quality, safety or the environment. We require a motivated & experienced Nightshift Fitter – Team Leader to join our expanding facility.

The Opportunity

The Nightshift Fitter - Team Leader is responsible for leading the night shift team in the repair, assembly, and maintenance of hydraulic cylinders and components while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are achieved. The successful candidate will be a trade-qualified Fitter with strong leadership skills and a focus on continuous improvement.

Job tasks and responsibilities

·         Lead and coordinate night shift activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.

·         Perform repairs, assembly, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic cylinders and components.

·         Allocate daily workloads and provide technical support to team members.

·         Monitor work quality and conduct QA/QC checks on completed jobs.

·         Promote and maintain workplace health and safety standards.

·         Assist in training and mentoring Fitters, Apprentices, and new team members.

·         Drive 5S and continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

·         Ensure tools, equipment, and measuring instruments are maintained and used safely.

·         Maximise production efficiency through teamwork, innovation, and lean manufacturing principles.

Desirable:

• Rigging and Dogging Ticket

• Forklift licence

The Successful Applicant Must:

• Be a trade-qualified Fitter with experience in the repair of hydraulic cylinders and components.

• Demonstrate previous leadership, Leading Hand, or Team Leader experience in a workshop environment.

• Have strong hydraulic fault-finding, repair, and assembly skills.

• Possess excellent safety, environmental, and quality management skills

• Be experienced in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies

• Be able to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision

• Be adaptable to changing priorities and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
