Psychologist

We are seeking a registered Psychologist who is passionate about early intervention, trauma-informed care, and delivering life-changing support to children and young people who have experienced significant adversity. This is a full time, permanent role, based between our Armadale and Midland offices.

The Psychologist provides high-quality, trauma-informed psychological services to children and young people involved in PCYC services, and other children and young people needing assistance. This includes the provision of psychological assessments, counselling, intervention, crisis response, case planning and coaching staff, and consultation with caregivers and professionals. The role contributes to multidisciplinary teams within Parkerville, addressing critical service gaps for children and families impacted by trauma, neurodevelopmental differences, and complex psychosocial and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed psychological assessment, intervention and therapeutic support to children, young people and their families
• Conduct psychological assessments and develop individualised treatment and care plans
• Deliver evidence-based therapy across flexible settings, including face-to-face and telehealth.
• Manage a diverse clinical caseload, including trauma, mental health, neurodevelopmental and disability presentations.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and with schools, carers, child protection and external services.
• Provide consultation, coaching and professional advice to staff, carers, schools and partner organisations.
• Advocate for children and young people and contribute to integrated care, case planning and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology with current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist; postgraduate qualifications in Clinical or Counselling Psychology are highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience providing evidence-based psychological assessment, counselling and therapeutic intervention to children and young people, ideally across a range of presentations and ages.
• Strong understanding and practical application of trauma-informed practice, child development, attachment, family systems and the impacts of complex trauma.
• Experience working with children and young people experiencing mental health, neurodevelopmental and psychosocial challenges.
• Strong communication, coaching and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, carers, schools, multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong organisational, report writing and time management skills, with the ability to manage a clinical caseload and work independently.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, child-centred and strengths-based practice, with a sound understanding of relevant clinical, legal and ethical requirements.
