MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN FITTER

About the role

As a Roteq Mechanical Technician Fitter, you will be responsible for repairing, replacing and upgrading equipment and parts. You will be reporting to the Mechanical Technician Leading Hand.

Key responsibilities

• Providing in-field service/repair/diagnosis on equipment

• Performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment - mainly diesel powered

• Build, fix, commission and upgrade high-speed rotating equipment

• Manage, maintain, check and test production machinery before actual production run

• Design, weld and mount relevant brackets or mechanical structures that will accommodate various production runs and increase productivity or reduce breakdowns

• Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments

• Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment in the field of turbomachinery

• Cutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines to turbo-machinery control equipment

• Erecting machines and equipment on site

• Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts

About you

• Hold a valid Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification

• Construction white card

• Must hold a current working at heights and confined space ticket

• Must hold dogging and basic rigging ticket

• Ideally hold an elevated work platform ticket

• Ability to work efficiently and to deadlines including in after-hours/weekend and shift rosters as required

• Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect of others

• Mobile and willing to spend time away from office/home as and when operation requires
