Boilermaker - Structural Steel

Your new organisation is an established structural steel construction company based in Melbourne's western suburbs, fabricating structural steelwork for construction projects across Victoria. With an experienced trade team and a strong reputation for quality workmanship, they're now looking to a Boilermaker to their busy workshop.

About this opportunity:

• Sunshine West location

• $44.00 – $48.00+ p/h (depending on skills and experience)

• Casual — direct employment with the client from day one, genuine ongoing work

• 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday to Friday schedule

• Join an established, experienced trade team in a busy structural steel workshop

• Hands-on fabrication role working with structural steel (mild steel)

What you'll be doing:

• MIG welding structural steel components to a high standard

• Marking out and setting out fabrications from drawings to tight tolerances

• Fitting and assembling beams, columns, cleats, base plates and trusses — tacking up square and true before weld-out

• Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, weld symbols and cutting lists

• Managing distortion control and weld sequencing on larger fabrications

• Working independently from shop drawings with minimal supervision

• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe workshop

To be considered for this role:

• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent

• Solid MIG welding experience essential

• Ability to pass a practical weld test as part of the selection process

• Confident reading structural steel/fabrication drawings

• Physically capable of sustained hands-on trade work

• Background in structural steel fabrication highly regarded

• Overhead crane, forklift, or dogging/rigging tickets highly regarded but not essential
