About the role

The School-Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) role promotes positive health outcomes for young people, their families and the broader School Community by providing opportunistic, confidential individual health consultations, health education, brief intervention and referral/s as required. Nurses work in partnership with school communities, multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and consumer experts to promote health and wellbeing and optimise health outcomes for young people and their families.

The Clinical Nurse – School Based Youth Health Service provides contemporary clinical leadership and care through the application of best practice principles, education, leadership and portfolio management in the application and role modelling of professional nursing practice standards in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).

Mandatory Requirements:

• Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).
• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
