Job Description:

BSP Powdercoating Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Powder Coater to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces and applying high-quality powder coating finishes to a variety of products using electrostatic spray equipment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality workmanship, and adherence to workplace health and safety standards.

The successful applicant will work closely with the production team to ensure products are completed efficiently while meeting company quality specifications and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare metal components for powder coating by cleaning, degreasing, sanding, masking, and inspecting surfaces.

- Apply powder coating using electrostatic spray guns and other approved application methods.

- Ensure consistent coating thickness, even coverage, and high-quality finishes that meet company specifications.

- Operate and monitor curing ovens to ensure correct curing temperatures and times.

- Inspect finished products for defects such as runs, sags, contamination, uneven coverage, or surface imperfections, and perform touch-ups or rework where required.

- Monitor coating quality and make necessary adjustments to application techniques and equipment settings.

- Clean and maintain spray booths, electrostatic spray guns, curing ovens, and associated equipment.

- Safely handle, store, and dispose of powder coating materials and chemicals in accordance with workplace procedures and safety regulations.

- Follow Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Work collaboratively with supervisors and production staff to meet daily production schedules and customer deadlines.

- Complete production and quality records as required.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications and Experience:

- At least three (3) years of relevant full-time work experience as a Powder Coater or in a related surface finishing role.

- Demonstrated experience operating electrostatic powder coating equipment.

- Knowledge of powder coating application techniques, curing processes, and quality inspection procedures.

- Ability to identify coating defects and perform corrective actions where required.

- Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices within a manufacturing environment.

- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production schedules, and technical specifications.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication skills and a positive work ethic.

- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
