About the Role

Sydney Grammar School is seeking to employ a highly motivated and experienced casual Library Assistant to join the College Street Library.

Reporting to the Head of Library, this position is responsible for undertaking daily general operations of the School Library.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain library resources under the supervision of the Library staff, as designated by the Head of Library.

• Assist with processing and cataloguing of library and school resources.

• Assist with the maintenance and weeding of resources under the supervision of the Library Staff, as designated by the Head Librarian.

• Circulation desk duties.

• Some supervision of library assistants and boys, as required.

• Assist where possible in the general running and needs of the library.

• Other tasks as required by the Head of Library.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Knowledge and experience of technology associated with Library functions.

• Interest in and knowledge of popular fiction, particularly for boys.

• Experience with a range of online databases.

• Knowledge of standard library operating procedures.

• Experience with a range of library management systems.

• Ability to use the many databases to which the library subscribes.

Commencement Date:           Immediate Start
