Community Engagement Officer, MMHC Mackay

This is a permanent, part-time opportunity (15 hours per week).

The primary purpose of the Community Engagement Officer role is to coordinate community awareness raising activities in the region that:

• Promotes and enhances understanding of the services offered at Head to Health including referral pathways
• Promotes early help seeking to improve access to health and other services for priority populations
• Ensures information available to consumers, their families and the local community is accessible and easy to understand

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or extensive experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education
• Demonstrated experience in delivering community engagement activities that increase community awareness and reduce barriers to care for mental health consumers
• Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of consumers with mental health and/or substance use problems
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
