Store Assistant

Gardenworld is seeking a confident and customer-focused Store Assistant to join our team in Braeside. This hands-on role combines customer service, sales and nursery operations, providing customers with expert advice and an exceptional shopping experience. You will also play an important role in maintaining healthy, well-presented plant displays throughout the nursery.

You will gain exposure to retail sales, merchandising, stock presentation, plant maintenance, plant care and general horticulture while working alongside an experienced and supportive team. This role is ideal for someone with a horticulture qualification or a minimum of three years' relevant horticultural or nursery experience, combined with a passion for plants and customer service.

What You’ll Tackle Daily

In this customer-facing role, you will be at the forefront of sales, customer engagement, plant maintenance and general horticulture while helping maintain a welcoming and well-presented nursery environment. Here's a taste of what you'll be doing:

• Engage with customers and recommend plants, products and gardening solutions

• Carry out plant maintenance and care, including watering, pruning, cleaning and monitoring plant health

• Assist with stock replenishment and incoming deliveries

• Maintain attractive merchandising displays and high presentation standards

• Identify sales opportunities and promote seasonal, featured and new products

This role suits a confident communicator who enjoys retail sales, customer interaction and practical horticultural work while building their knowledge within a busy nursery environment.

What You Bring to the Table

• Horticulture qualification or a minimum of three years' relevant horticultural or nursery experience

• Previous retail sales or customer service experience

• Strong understanding of general horticulture and plant care

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to identify plant maintenance requirements and maintain presentation standards

• Strong customer service focus

• Reliable, motivated, and available to work weekends

• Basic administration and point-of-sale skills desirable
