The Opportunity

The Group Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial management, processing and reporting across the Outside Ideas Group of entities. The role safeguards the accuracy and integrity of accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and monthly financial reporting, while supporting the Chief Financial Officer with reconciliations, compliance obligations and finance-system administration.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable and Payable

Process accounts receivable claims, receipt payments and manage retentions and debtor accounts.

Manage accounts payable, including processing payments, liaising with suppliers, reconciling supplier statements and managing retentions.

Coordinate with external resources that support the accounts payable function.

Reporting and Reconciliation

Lead the month-end close process, ensuring journals, accruals, reconciliations and financial reports are completed accurately and on time.

Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.

Maintain the fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation journals.

Reconcile QuickBooks Online files for the Group’s small property entities.

Systems and Project Administration

Set up new projects in Vista project management software.

Manage machine and vehicle allocations across projects.

Compliance and General Administration

Prepare and lodge quarterly Business Activity Statement (BAS) returns.

Provide backup support for payroll processing when required.

Answer incoming phone calls and assist with general administration as required.

Key Performance Measures

Supplier payments are processed accurately and on time.

Debtor accounts are maintained accurately, with retentions and collections managed proactively.

Monthly reconciliations and financial reports are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

BAS returns and other compliance obligations are lodged accurately and on time.

A positive, collaborative and professional working culture is maintained.

Skills and Qualifications

At least three years’ experience in a similar accounting role.

A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly regarded.

Familiarity with Vista project management software is preferred but not essential.
