Experienced Medical Receptionist

About the role

As a key member of our team, you will be one of the first friendly faces and voices patients connect with. The role includes greeting patients, managing appointments, answering enquiries, processing billing and supporting the clinical team with day-to-day administration.

Please note: This role is expected to commence in November, so it may suit someone who is considering their next move but does not need to start immediately.

Key responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional, respectful and friendly manner.

• Managing a busy reception desk, including phone calls, patient enquiries and appointment bookings.

• Using medical practice software to book appointments, update patient details and manage daily workflows.

• Processing patient billings, Medicare claims, payments and receipts accurately.

• Supporting doctors, nurses and the administration team with patient correspondence, recalls, results, scanning and filing.

• Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive patient information with care and discretion.

• Prioritising tasks effectively in a fast-paced general practice environment.

• Contributing to a positive, supportive and organised team culture.

About you

• Previous experience in medical reception or healthcare administration is essential.

• Experience using Best Practice software is highly regarded.

• You are confident communicating with patients, doctors and other members of the healthcare team.

• You have strong attention to detail and can manage competing priorities calmly and efficiently.

• You are professional, reliable and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality.

• You enjoy working as part of a team and contributing to a welcoming patient experience.
