Senior Dental Assistant

About the role

The Senior Dental Assistant provides high-level dental assisting services within the School Dental Service (SDS), Metro North Oral Health Services. The role combines advanced clinical dental assisting with leadership and operational responsibilities, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality oral health services to eligible patients across multiple locations.

The successful candidate will provide expert chairside assistance, support the management and professional development of Dental Assistants, and contribute to the effective operation of fixed clinics and mobile dental facilities. The role also plays an important part in workforce leadership, infection control, quality assurance and service delivery outcomes that support the ongoing success of the School Dental Service.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Provide high-level chairside assistance and clinical support to oral health professionals across a range of dental procedures and services.
• Lead, supervise and support Dental Assistants through workforce management, training, mentoring and performance development activities.
• Coordinate the operation of dental facilities and dental vans, including equipment maintenance, stock management and service support activities.
• Monitor infection control, sterilisation and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice.
• Collaborate effectively with oral health clinicians, managers and stakeholders to support service delivery, workforce capability and continuous improvement initiatives.
