Where you'll be working
The Royal Hospital for Women is a multi-faceted tertiary referral and teaching hospital, internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading centres for the care of mothers, babies, and women with benign gynaecological and gynae-oncology conditions. As the only stand-alone women’s hospital in New South Wales, it offers unique opportunities for innovative clinical practice and is committed to delivering excellence in women’s health care through both practice and ongoing research.
Part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), the hospital is co-located with other major facilities on the Randwick Hospitals Campus—one of the State’s most comprehensive health care precincts. This location supports a rich environment for collaboration and expertise across specialties.
Ideally situated between the University of New South Wales and Coogee Beach, The Royal Hospital for Women is just 15 minutes from Sydney’s Central Business District and harbour. Its proximity to some of Sydney’s best beaches, restaurants, and sporting facilities offers staff the added benefit of a vibrant lifestyle alongside a rewarding and supportive professional environment.
The Role
The Neonatal Division Nursing Co-Director (along with the Medical Co-Director) is jointly responsible and accountable for achieving the day to day operational management of the Neonatal Division. These will be achieved in accordance with the policies of NSW Health, SESLHD, RHW, and other relevant legislative and statutory bodies.
The Co-Directors will provide vision and leadership in the Division and will foster excellence in the delivery of clinical services, corporate responsibilities, and in teaching and research.
The Co-Directors will together direct the day to day clinical and corporate activities of the Division consistent with Hospital objectives through a structure that facilitates participatory management with department heads and senior managers, decentralisation of decision-making, and teamwork in the provision of clinical services.
The Co-Directors will be required to represent and promote the hospital through participation on committees and professional bodies as required.
This role represents a collaborative partnership with the Medical Clinical Co-Director. Whilst the Neonatal Division Medical and Nursing Clinical Co-Directors have different time commitments to the co-directorship, both Co-Directors are jointly accountable for forming a partnership to plan, co-ordinate and deliver the clinical services of the Division.
