About the role
Wagga Wagga City Council's Wastewater & Stormwater team is seeking an experienced leader to provide operational expertise, technical knowledge and leadership in the operation and maintenance of Council's sewage treatment plants.
Permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week)Commencing salary of $3,476.98 with the opportunity to progress to $4,172.38 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).Generous leave entitlements including access to MyLeave.Ongoing training and development opportunities.
Your New Role
As the Water Reclamation Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Council's sewage treatment plants, ensuring facilities operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental legislation and Environmental Protection Licences.
Working closely with the Manager Wastewater & Stormwater, you will lead, engage, mentor and develop a skilled operational team while coordinating maintenance programs, operational activities and continuous improvement initiatives across Council's water reclamation facilities.
The position is responsible for overseeing plant operations, ensuring sampling and analysis is undertaken in accordance with licence requirements, managing contractors, coordinating on-call activities, maintaining operational records and supporting the delivery of best practice wastewater treatment services for the community.
What You Will Need To Succeed
Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment (Wastewater) and/or Certificate of Completion – Advanced Wastewater Treatment Operations (NSW Department of Planning, Industries and Environment).Class C Driver's Licence.General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).Confined Spaces Certificate.Current First Aid qualification.Substantial experience in sewage treatment plant operations and maintenance, including knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems, Sequential Batch Reactors (SBR), extended aeration plants, chemical dosing systems, wastewater sampling and industry best practice.Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, mentor and develop a team while effectively managing contractors and operational activities.Strong time management, planning, financial, administrative and computer skills.Sound communication, interpersonal, negotiation and customer service skills.Sound knowledge of environmental and legislative requirements relevant to wastewater treatment operations.
