The Director of Music is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering an exceptional Music program from Pre-School to Year 12. This role requires a passionate, strategic, and experienced educator to lead a vibrant department.

The successful applicant will be an inspiring leader with a proven track record in coordinating large-scale performances and productions, demonstrating excellence in both classroom teaching and co-curricular programming. They will be committed to nurturing creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation of music in every student.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and inclusive Music curriculum across all year levels (P–12), aligned with national standards.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Mentor and support Music teachers and tutors, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Drive innovation in curriculum and pedagogy, incorporating digital tools and creative approaches to teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with other academic and co-curricular leaders to support cross-disciplinary initiatives and whole-school events.
• Monitor and respond to student performance data, using evidence to inform teaching practice and improvement strategies.
• Foster an inclusive, student-centred culture that celebrates diversity and promotes critical and creative expression.
• Coordinate and oversee music tuition programs, major school productions, concerts, festivals, and events, ensuring excellence in planning, rehearsal, and performance.
• Liaise with parents, guardians, and the wider community to promote understanding of the importance of music education.
• Contribute actively to the broader leadership of the School through regular participation in leadership meetings and initiatives.
• Provide strategic leadership to the department, managing budgets, resources, and future planning.

The salary offered will be commensurate with the successful applicant's skills, qualifications and experience and will be based on the teaching salaries in the Independent Schools NSW Teachers Co-operative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in teaching Music at a secondary level
• Prior leadership experience within an educational setting
• Demonstrated success in coordinating large-scale performances, productions, or music events
• Proven ability to develop and implement curriculum and assessment practices
• Experience mentoring staff and supporting professional development
• Engagement with the broader school community and co-curricular life
• Experience delivering differentiated learning to support a range of student needs

Selection Criteria

Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development: Demonstrate a history of designing innovative curricula aligned with standards and student needs while modelling effective teaching practices.

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care: Outline your ability to nurture student well-being, implement strong pastoral care, and collaborate with staff to create a positive learning environment.

Resource Management and Environmental Stewardship: Highlight experience in identifying resource needs, budget preparation, and promoting sustainable practices within an educational context.

Community Engagement and Collaboration: Illustrate your skill in engaging with the School community, representing the School, and contributing to co-curricular activities while ensuring supervision and active involvement.

Commitment to Anglican Ethos: Demonstrated and genuine commitment to upholding and embodying the Anglican Identity and Christian Ethos of the School with clear evidence of Compassion, Wisdom, and Respect in all interactions with students, staff, and the broader school community.
