We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading daily operations and driving the store’s commercial performance. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key leadership role within a community‑focused supermarket where you will have the flexibility to tailor service and product offerings to meet the needs of our local customers.

About the Role

As the 2IC, you will play a critical role in supporting the management team to maximise store profitability, uphold operational standards, and lead a high‑performing team. You will step into full leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager and ensure smooth, efficient, and customer‑focused operations at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations
• Resolve customer issues by identifying effective and timely solutions
• Drive sales and profitability by identifying opportunities for growth
• Lead, motivate, and develop team members to deliver exceptional service
• Manage staff performance and address employee issues professionally
• Coordinate stock management, including stock filling, rotation, and code checks
• Work in freezer and cool room environments as required
• Ensure compliance with store standards, security procedures, and safe work practices
• Maintain high housekeeping and presentation standards
• Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture

About You

• Significant supermarket or retail experience is essential
• Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate and guide a team
• Strong operational experience across stock management, inventory control, and front‑end/office functions
• Hands‑on, proactive, and solutions‑focused approach
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to enforce store standards consistently
