Barron Valley Hotel is a heritage-listed hotel. It is situated in the heart of Atherton, on the Tropical Tablelands. The hotel provides a wide variety of facilities and services for visitors including accommodation, restaurant and bar and bottle shops.

The Barron Valley Hotel has a vacancy opening for a Cook. We are looking for a qualified and experienced candidate to join our team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

·         Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

·         Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

·         Check quality of ingredients

·         Seasons food according to recipes or company needs

·         Prepare, serve and store food items in regards to the requirements of the Kitchen

·         Prepares food before the arrival of the guests

·         Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements

·         Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment

·         Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes

·         Assists other cooks during the food assembly process

·         Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

·         Create new recipes

·          Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

·         Cleans food preparation areas as determined by law and Hotel policy

·         Liaise and work with the Head Chef and Sous Chef and assist them to ensure safe and efficient production of food, while maintaining all statutory requirements

·         Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

·         Certificate 111 in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent is a minimum requirement.

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cook.

·         Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware

·         Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

·         Ability to follow all sanitation procedures

·         Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Experiences in similar role
