As Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key leadership role in shaping Council's financial future, providing strategic advice, leading a high-performing team, and driving budgeting, financial planning and reporting activities that support sustainable growth and sound decision-making.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, this senior leadership position is responsible for leading Council's Management Accounting team and delivering high-quality budgeting, financial planning, reporting, governance and business partnering services. The role supports informed organisational decision-making, legislative compliance and long-term financial sustainability while driving continuous improvement across financial systems, processes and controls.

Essential:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in an accounting related discipline and extensive experience in senior finance role
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a finance team with proven outcomes.
Expert knowledge and experience in budgeting, financial management and statutory reporting
Demonstrated experience and understanding of Long-term financial planning
Extensive knowledge and experience in applying accounting policies, principles and accounting standards
Demonstrated experience in implementing and understanding of electronic budget systems
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with good analytical and data interpretation skills
Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times
Desirable:
Previous Local Government experience in a senior financial role
Sound financial knowledge of Section 94 planning
