Job description:

The Opportunity

Survey Management Solutions (SMS) is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our South East Victoria team, based in Clyde North.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of civil infrastructure, land development and construction projects throughout Melbourne's South East and including the Gippsland region. The role offers the perfect mix of field and office work, allowing you to combine hands-on surveying with project management, data processing, and client liaison.

We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, mentoring others, and embracing new technology. Experience with drone surveying is highly regarded and will be an advantage in this role.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same, but your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering construction, engineering and land development surveys
• Performing set-out, as-built, feature, monitoring and control surveys
• Processing survey data and preparing accurate deliverables for clients
• Creating and managing digital terrain models and machine guidance files
• Operating and maintaining modern survey equipment including GPS, Total Stations and laser scanners
• Undertaking drone surveys and processing aerial survey data (highly desirable)
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior surveyors
• Liaising with clients, project managers and site teams to ensure project success
• Managing project schedules, survey quality and documentation
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and professionalism on every project

About You

You'll be an experienced surveyor who enjoys both technical work and working with people.

You'll ideally have:

• Qualifications in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics or a related discipline
• Several years' experience in construction or engineering surveying
• Strong knowledge of GPS, Total Stations and modern survey software
• Experience processing survey data and preparing quality deliverables
• Drone survey experience (or a willingness to further develop these skills)
• A current driver's licence
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• A strong commitment to safety and delivering quality outcomes
