Senior Medical Writer

We're looking for a Senior Medical Writer with a passion for scientific excellence and strategic medical communications to join our team on a hybrid basis in Sydney. Reporting to our Associate Scientific Director, this role offers the opportunity to lead the development of high-quality scientific content while shaping impactful medical education programmes for global healthcare audiences.
Day to day, you'll collaborate with client services, programme development, creative, and editorial teams to deliver a wide range of scientific materials. From medical communication plans and training programmes to manuscripts, slide decks, conference summaries, advisory board reports, and symposia outputs, you'll provide both scientific expertise and strategic direction across multiple projects. You'll also build trusted client relationships, contribute to business development, and play an important role in supporting and developing junior writers within a collaborative, people-first agency.

• Lead the development, review, and editing of high-quality scientific materials, including manuscripts, medical communication plans, training materials, slide decks, conference summaries, and advisory board outputs. • Manage multiple writing projects, ensuring delivery on brief, on budget, and to agreed timelines. • Build strong relationships with clients, providing scientific and strategic input throughout project development. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external agencies to deliver integrated medical communications programmes. • Mentor and support junior medical writers, providing guidance, feedback, and performance development. • Review and edit documents to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and quality. • Contribute to proposal development, client pitches, and identifying opportunities for business growth. • Liaise with external experts and suppliers where required to support successful project delivery. This is a varied role combining scientific writing, strategic thinking, client partnership, and team leadership. You'll have the opportunity to influence high-profile medical communications programmes while continuing to develop your own expertise within a supportive and collaborative agency.

• Significant experience writing scientific and medical communications content within a healthcare communications agency or similar environment. • Excellent scientific writing, editing, and critical appraisal skills across a range of medical education deliverables. • Confidence working directly with clients and providing strategic scientific input. • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues. • A degree (or higher qualification) in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or another relevant scientific discipline.
