Heavy Diesel Mechanic

As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic working at Summit, no two days are ever the same! You will have great opportunities to work on various heavy plant and equipment including Excavators, Truck mounted EWPs, HC, MR, LR, Tractors, Chippers, Mowers. Our workshop is based in St Marys and supports Summit Open Space Services as a leading provider of Vegetation Management.

Duties:
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, your key responsibilities will be:

• Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy plant, trucks and equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.
• Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, braking and hydraulic systems.
• Complete breakdown repairs in workshop and field environments.
• Inspect equipment and identify safety, compliance and maintenance issues.
• Test and commission equipment following repairs and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and inspection documentation.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with workplace safety requirements and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and a safe working environment.
• Assist with fleet reliability, asset management and maintenance planning.
• Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices and operators.

 
About You:

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent
• Current driver's Licence (HR/HC highly regarded)
• OHS Construction Card (White Card) or willing to obtain one
• Experience maintaining heavy plant, trucks and diesel equipment
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
