Motor Mechanic (General)

About the role

The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing a variety of passenger vehicles while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on a range of motor vehicles
• Inspect vehicles to identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
• Repair or replace worn or defective components including engines, steering, suspension, braking systems, transmissions and cooling systems
• Perform engine tuning and mechanical adjustments to optimise vehicle performance
• Conduct road tests before and after repairs to verify faults and ensure repairs have been completed successfully
• Inspect vehicle systems and prepare reports outlining required repairs and maintenance recommendations
• Maintain accurate service records and complete job documentation
• Ensure workshop equipment and tools are used safely and maintained in good working order
• Work collaboratively with other workshop staff to meet service deadlines and maintain high customer satisfaction
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and manufacturer specifications where applicable

About you

• Minimum relevant Cert III and IV required
• At least one year of relevant mechanic experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Experience servicing a variety of vehicle makes and models
• Ability to interpret workshop manuals and technical information
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A current Australian Driver Licence
