Cafe Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Café Manager to join Wedge St Kilda. This is a full-time position where you will take charge of all day-to-day operations of our café, ensuring exceptional service delivery and a welcoming environment for our customers. As Café Manager, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team, managing finances, and driving business performance whilst maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and customer care. This role is pivotal in creating a thriving café experience that keeps customers coming back and contributes to the overall success of our business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and manage the café team, including recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management

• Oversee daily café operations, ensuring efficient workflows and smooth service delivery during peak and off-peak hours

• Maintain stock levels and manage ordering of food, beverages and supplies whilst optimising inventory and minimising waste

• Monitor financial performance, including sales targets, budgets and cash handling, ensuring profitability and cost control

• Maintain and uphold health, safety and hygiene standards in compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies

• Deliver exceptional customer service standards and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally

• Develop and implement café marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to drive customer engagement and sales

• Manage the café's social media presence and engage with customers online

• Liaise with suppliers and maintain positive business relationships

• Train and develop team members in product knowledge, service standards and hospitality best practices

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Café Manager or similar hospitality management role, ideally within a busy and fast-paced environment

• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff

• Excellent customer service orientation with a genuine passion for hospitality

• Sound financial management abilities, including experience with budgeting, forecasting and profit and loss management

• Thorough knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene regulations and best practices

• Experience in stock management and ordering procedures

• Proficiency in point of sale systems and café management software

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as required

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

• Certification in Food Safety Handling and First Aid is desirable
