About the role

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and related products while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining company standards relating to quality, cleanliness, efficiency, food safety, and customer experience. This role is hands-on and fast paced, requiring strong coffee knowledge, attention to detail, multitasking ability, customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure during high-volume service periods. The Barista is responsible for maintaining coffee equipment, managing beverage preparation stations, assisting with front-of-house operations, maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards, and supporting the overall daily operation of the restaurant.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso coffee, specialty coffee, teas, iced beverages, matcha, chai, chocolate beverages, and other drinks to company standards

• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, brewing equipment, blenders, and beverage preparation equipment correctly and safely

• Dial in coffee grinders and monitor espresso extraction quality throughout service

• Steam, texture, and pour milk correctly for a range of beverage styles

• Prepare beverages consistently according to recipes, ratios, presentation standards, and operational procedures

• Greet customers in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner and provide high levels of customer service

• Take customer orders accurately and efficiently and operate POS systems and EFTPOS terminals

• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of coffee stations and beverage preparation areas

• Clean espresso machines, grinders, steam wands, brewing equipment, and beverage preparation equipment regularly throughout service

• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures

About you

• Previous barista or hospitality experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of espresso coffee preparation and milk texturing

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• High attention to detail and presentation

• Food Safety knowledge preferred

• Friendly and professional presentation

• Reliable and punctual

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding duties

• Availability to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, mornings, evenings, and rotating shifts where required
