About the role
We are seeking an experienced ICSS Commissioning Lead to support the safe and efficient delivery of commissioning activities for a major offshore Oil & Gas facility.
Reporting to the Offshore Commissioning Manager, this role will lead the commissioning of integrated control and safety systems, in line with Australian offshore regulations, project specifications, and facility commissioning strategies.
This is a key offshore leadership position responsible for ensuring commissioning execution meets safety, quality, cybersecurity, SIMOPS, and schedule requirements in a complex Australian offshore environment.
About the Role
As the ICSS Commissioning Lead, you will provide technical leadership across offshore commissioning activities, coordinate vendors and contractors, and drive system completion through to handover and start-up support.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning ExecutionLead and manage ICSS commissioning activities offshore, ensuring alignment with CRUX commissioning plans and Australian regulatory requirements.Ensure all activities comply with the OPERCOM® methodology and are tracked using ICAPS for system completion.Coordinate commissioning for ICSS, field instrumentation, and package control systems.
Safety, SIMOPS & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure ICSS activities comply with Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, NOPSEMA requirements, and project HSE standards.Maintain strict ICS cybersecurity practices aligned with IEC 62443 and corporate standards during commissioning.Lead ICSS risk identification and mitigation, ensuring compliance with Management of Change processes.
System Completion & HandoverMonitor daily ICAPS progress and support timely punch closure for Mechanical Completion, RFC, RFSU, PSSR, and handover milestones.Ensure availability of ICSS spares, test equipment, and vendor support.Oversee vendor representatives during SAT, FAT, yard integration testing, offshore commissioning, and start-up support.
Coordination & LeadershipProvide technical direction to commissioning teams and interface with EPC contractors, construction contractors, and vendors.Review contractor commissioning procedures, execution plans, and method statements for consistency with CRUX requirements.Attend coordination meetings, contribute to commissioning readiness reviews, and maintain a lessons-learned register.Support the development of Australian ICSS technicians and trainees through mentoring and on-site coaching.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong offshore commissioning experience, proven ICSS technical capability, and the confidence to lead multidisciplinary teams in a safety-critical environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent experience.Minimum 10 years’ experience in ICSS commissioning on major offshore oil and gas projects.Demonstrable commissioning experience on large-scale offshore capital projects.Strong experience with ICSS systems, alarm management, database merging, and configuration management.Hands-on experience with ICSS networks, cybersecurity, fire and gas systems, ESD systems, and field instruments including ESDVs, MOVs, and transmitters.
