About the role

August Cafe is seeking a talented and passionate Barista to join our team on a full-time basis in Seddon VIC 3011. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic hospitality environment where your expertise in coffee preparation and customer service will directly contribute to delivering exceptional experiences to our guests. As a Barista, you will be at the heart of our beverage operations, crafting high-quality drinks whilst building meaningful connections with our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee-based beverages, specialty drinks and other hot and cold beverages to the highest standard

• Operate espresso machines and other beverage equipment with precision and care

• Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the bar area, including equipment maintenance and sanitisation

• Provide outstanding customer service, taking orders accurately and engaging positively with guests

• Work efficiently during peak service periods whilst maintaining quality and consistency

• Stock and manage beverage supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels are maintained

• Follow established recipes and presentation standards for all beverages

• Collaborate effectively with team members to support smooth service operations

• Respond to customer requests and feedback with professionalism and courtesy

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Barista in a busy hospitality environment

• Strong knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing methods and beverage preparation techniques

• Proficiency in operating espresso machines and milk frothing equipment

• Excellent customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high presentation standards

• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Barista training or certification is highly desirable
