About the role
Major Rural Referral Hospital | Regional NSW
Permanent Full-Time or Part-Time
We are partnering with a major rural referral hospital in regional New South Wales to recruit an experienced Staff Specialist in General Paediatrics to join a well-established, high-performing paediatric service.
This is an outstanding opportunity to practice high-acuity, broad-scope paediatrics within one of the largest regional hospitals in NSW, while enjoying a genuine work–life balance and strong professional support.
This hospital is a 282-bed rural referral facility and is the largest healthcare provider in NSW outside the Sydney–Wollongong–Newcastle metropolitan area. It serves as the primary referral centre for a vast regional catchment across northern NSW and is a key training and specialist hub within its Local Health District.
The Paediatric and Adolescent Inpatient Unit is the major referral service for the New England, North West and Upper Hunter regions.
Key service highlights include:
The service is further supported by regular visiting subspecialty outreach clinics from a major tertiary children’s hospital, including:
The hospital provides Level 3 Neonatal Services, supporting newborns delivered within a Level 4 maternity service.
The paediatric team:
The Special Care Nursery provides:
Neonatal care represents more than 50% of the inpatient workload, making this a defining and rewarding component of the role.
Candidates with general paediatrics and neonatal experience or interest are strongly encouraged to apply and will play a key role in ongoing service development.
This role is based in a vibrant regional city offering the best of both worlds — a relaxed rural lifestyle complemented by strong education, sporting and cultural opportunities.
