Senior Team Leader- Youth Residential Care

Your role:

Are you a passionate and experienced leader looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Team Leader to provide leadership, operational oversight, and coaching across our Residential Services team in the Goulburn (Wallan/Seymour).

In this role, you will lead and support frontline staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred services that promote independence, choice, and wellbeing. You will drive a positive team culture, ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation, manage service performance, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve exceptional outcomes for staff and young people.

The Senior Team Leader oversees operations of residential houses and:

• provides supervision and support to House Coordinators and Residential Youth Workers delivering day to day care.
• daily oversight and risk management of relevant houses to ensure a high standard of care and service provision.
• drives implementation and adherence of CARE/TCI and Healing Matters practice standards to foster best practice.
• devises creative and flexible approaches to portfolios/house coverage.
• works collaboratively on strategic recruitment and rostering, in the best interests of the program
• has oversight of Care Teams who are supporting our contracted Case Management targets.

About us

We are the state’s largest provider of Out of Home Care services and provide therapeutic care to young people across over 28 residential homes in Melbourne and Victoria. Within each house, a team of between 8 and 12 staff provide trauma informed therapeutic care to young people which includes responding to the young person’s emotional and functional needs, the development of their personal skills, all administrative requirements and household duties.

The aim is to provide a safe and nurturing home environment while supporting the young people to be the best they can be.

Make it work:

As a senior team leader you are required to provide oversight of Residential Care providing day to day support & supervision for House Coordinators and Residential staff.

Provide leadership, support and supervision to residential care staff and play a lead role in the creation of a culture that promotes healing from the range of traumatic experiences of the young people.

Make your mark:

• Completing Case Reviews
• Oversight of rosters and timesheets
• Overseeing culture and staff wellbeing
• Managing finance and budgets for residential homes
• Building rapport with external stakeholders
• Placement planning
• Implementation of safety planning
• A high level knowledge of adolescent and child development and the theories relating to Trauma and Attachment as the aftermath of abuse and neglect
• Highly developed skills in managing the challenging and confronting behaviours that arise from this; in a calm and consistent manner and modelling this to staff
• Strong understanding of therapeutic support and crisis intervention.
• The ability to provide strong leadership, direction and coaching to residential care staff.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role you must hold:

• Tertiary Qualification at diploma or degree level in social work, psychology or behavioural science or equivalent.

Or

• A relevant tertiary qualification which is recognized under the Residential Care Workforce Training Initiative, and a willingness to undertake top up training to meet the qualification requirements of the Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care).
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Victorian Drivers License

• You get a salary starting at around $140,671 plus super.
• Salary packaging is available up to $15,900 plus an entertainment card.
• SCHCADS award level 8.3
• Full time, permanent.
• Based at Box Hill with travel required to Wallan and Seymour.
• You will be required to support the team after hours on occasion outside of the standard 9am-5pm
