The Role
We are looking for a qualified health care professional with:
Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of AustraliaTertiary qualification in health management or working towards or a combination of study and work
Our Nursing Unit Managers provide leadership and manage the delivery of health care services for all patients admitted to Correctional Centres.
The position is an integral part of nursing administration and has responsibility and accountability for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of health services for patients and for overseeing the delivery of those services.
This includes the co-ordination and monitoring of service provision and implementing and monitoring activity relating to service planning and development and policy development.
This position is required to interface effectively with other managers and service directors within Justice Health and Corrective Service New South Wales (CSNSW) custodial and program staff.

Tell us about a time you demonstrated clinical leadership in a complex situation where the quality or safety of patient care was at risk. How did you use your clinical judgement to determine the appropriate course of action, and what was the outcome?In Justice Health, clinical care must be delivered within a complex custodial environment and in partnership with CSNSW. Describe a situation where you have had to balance clinical requirements, patient-centred care, operational requirements, and competing stakeholder priorities. How did you make your decision and achieve a safe outcome?You commence as NUM Level 3 at a correctional centre and, within your first three months, identify the following: staff morale is low, sick leave has increased, there are inconsistencies in clinical practice, incident reports have increased, patient complaints have risen and CSNSW are reporting delays in patients accessing health services. You are also required to implement a new model of care within the next six months. How would you assess the situation, establish priorities, and develop a plan to address the immediate risks while also leading the longer-term improvement?
