About the role
The Program Officer (Out of Home Care) supports the delivery of high-quality Out of Home Care services to children as part of an integrated child protection response to resolve children’s protective needs through the implementation of quality case management processes and identifying and developing suitable placement and support options for children, carers and care providers.
As a Program Officer (Out of Home Care) your key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Building and maintaining productive and respectful working relationships with prospective and approved Foster and Kinship Carers, Child Safety Service Centres, and key stakeholders within and across government and the broader human and community services networks.Proactively responding to enquiries from members of the public and other key stakeholders in relation to the assessment, approval, and support of approved Foster and Kinship Carers.Organising and delivering departmentally approved training packages to individuals and small groups as it relates to their role as an approved Foster or Kinship Carer.Undertaking Initial and Renewal Assessment interviews and development of assessment reports for prospective and approved Foster and Kinship Carers, in adherence to departmental policy, procedures and guidelines.Undertaking regular support activities as it relates to approved Foster and Kinship Carers to ensure legislative and policy requirements are met and provision of support to approved carers in the development of Placement Agreement, Foster Care Agreements and Standard of Care matters.Negotiating placements and placements supports with approved Foster and Kinship Cares, or other care providers, including the identification of needs and relevant and appropriate supports to meet those identified needs.Performing work tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and actively participate in quality assurance reviews, practice reviews, training and development in the regional placement servicesContributing to or preparing briefs, plans or other departmental reports and correspondence in a timely and professional manner, consistent with departmental guidelines.Contributing to a professional environment through a personal commitment to ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.Professionally representing the department at meetings and relevant forums with key stakeholders.
Your Mandatory Requirements
Travel is a requirement of this position, including visits to remote communitiesPossession of a current “C” Class Drivers licence.Possession of or able to obtain a blue card administered by the Queensland Public Safety Business Agency.
