About the role:

As the Waste Services Contracts Officer, you’ll provide specialist contract management support across Darebin’s Waste Services portfolio.

You’ll work closely with operational teams and waste contractors to monitor performance, manage contractual requirements and identify risks, issues and opportunities throughout the contract lifecycle.

From KPIs and expenditure to variations, renewals and contractor performance, you’ll help ensure Council’s waste contracts deliver safe, reliable, compliant and value-for-money outcomes for the community.

You will:

• Manage and monitor Waste Services contracts and contractor performance.
• Track KPIs, expenditure, risks, milestones, renewals and contractual obligations.
• Work with contractors to address performance issues and improve service outcomes.
• Support variations, extensions, renewals and other contract requirements.
• Identify and manage contractual, financial, operational and compliance risks.
• Provide clear reporting, analysis and advice to the Manager Operations & Waste.
• Support consistent and effective contract management practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve contract performance, efficiency and value for money.
• Work closely with operational teams, suppliers and contractors to resolve issues and deliver outcomes.

About you:

You’re an experienced contract management professional who understands the importance of strong contractor relationships, performance accountability and effective governance.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated contract management experience, ideally within waste services or a comparable operational environment.
• Strong experience monitoring contractor performance and KPIs.
• Sound commercial, financial and risk management capability.
• Strong understanding of contract obligations, variations, renewals and compliance.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues pragmatically.
• A proactive approach to improving contract performance and value for money.
