Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant. This is a hands-on role covering accounting, taxation, payroll, compliance, financial reporting and client support.

The successful candidate will ideally be a degree-qualified accountant with 2–3 years of relevant experience and be considering, commencing or currently undertaking CA or CPA studies.

This position offers genuine scope for professional development and progression into more senior accounting, taxation and finance roles over time.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Manage the end-to-end payroll function, including payroll processing, superannuation, PAYG withholding, Single Touch Payroll and payroll tax reporting.

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), PAYG obligations and tax returns.

• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, financial statements and management reports.

• Assist with preparation of income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and other entities, as appropriate.

• Maintain accurate supplier, customer and accounting information in Xero and other accounting systems.

• Assist clients with bookkeeping, accounting, taxation and general business support matters.

• Assist with other accounting, taxation, finance and administrative duties as required.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

• At least one year of practical payroll experience, including superannuation and PAYG obligations.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience preparing individual, company and trust tax returns.

• Knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, PAYG and superannuation requirements.

• Experience with Xero Practice Manager, Xero Tax, MYOB or similar practice-management and taxation software.
