Vineyard Manager / Viticulturalist - Mac Forbes Wines

Mac Forbes Wines (est. 2005) is a small wine business located in the Yarra Valley on the outskirts of Melbourne. With a clear focus on best practice, connection with people and culture of the region, this role is exciting for the indiviual that wants to be involved and working with a highly dedicated team. The business runs multiple vineyard holdings for in-house wine production. With the ambition to farm with resilience and vitality, this role is suited to an individual who cares deeply, is curious, and enjoys the fruits of their labour.

With a heavy focus on regenerative farming and a strong preference for organics, this role requires knowledge and experience working in high disease pressure regions. Dry farming and organic viticulture experience is preferred. We are seeking a vineyard manager that can manage these properties in a challenging, flexible and highly rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands on physically demanding vineyard management working across multiple sites.

• Including but not limited to Tractor operation, pruning, spraying, canopy management etc.

• Considerate management with respect to land-owners and allied businesses.

• Focus on working with the environment to build soil and plant health.

• Detailed reporting, costing and analysis of vineyard performance.

• Fine tuning of vineyard practices for sustainability and quality.

• Management of contract labour, machinery and operations.

• Engagement across the business

• Practical hands on machinery maintenance experience preferred.

• Good computer skills The right person will have exceptional communication skills.
