Pharmacy Assistant

The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Pharmacy Assistants to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Prepare, distribute and dispense pharmaceuticals
• Assist with inventory management in the pharmacy
• Assist with the collation and maintenance of pharmacy data
• Ordering and stock control of medications

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Certificate III in Community Pharmacy SIR30116 or Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support HLT37115) or an international equivalent is mandatory
• A certificate of competency in ‘HLPTHA001 – Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest module' as part of a Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy. Please note: Applicants who do not have a certificate of competency in this module are expected to complete it within 3 months of commencing employment
• Ability to work across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service on a rostered/rotational basis and participate in the weekend and public holiday roster as required
• A portion of these roles have significant manual handling requirements
• This position involves the handling and manipulation of cytotoxic substances, within specialist units and wearing specialised clothing
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent part time, permanent full time, temporary full time and temporary part time (several positions, temporary positions up to 6 months with the possibility of extension, hours negotiable)
• Base salary ranging from $68,471 - $72,058 per annum, $2,624.50 - $2,762.00 per fortnight $34.53 - $36.34 per hour

The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, through inpatient units, outpatient clinics and in all facilities where medicines are being utilised for care of patients.
