Join a Student-Focused Education TeamSouthern Cross Education Institute Higher Education (SCEI-HE) is seeking a passionate and experienced Trainer and Assessor – Diploma of Community Services to join our supportive academic team in North Melbourne.This is an excellent opportunity for a community services professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring and making a genuine difference in students’ lives. You will play an important role in preparing the next generation of community services professionals by combining your industry knowledge with engaging, practical and student-centred teaching.At SCEI-HE, we are committed to providing quality education through innovative teaching practices, supportive learning environments and strong connections with industry and the wider community.
About the RoleAs a Trainer and Assessor, you will deliver engaging and practical training across the Diploma of Community Services, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed in their studies and future careers.You will have the opportunity to:Plan and deliver engaging classroom and practical training sessions.Use a variety of teaching strategies, activities, case studies and learning resources to support different learning styles.Develop, review and enhance learning and assessment materials.Provide students with constructive feedback, academic guidance and ongoing support.Assess student work fairly and consistently against competency requirements.Maintain accurate student, assessment and progress records.Ensure training and assessment practices meet relevant regulatory, quality and compliance requirements.Incorporate current community services practices, legislation, ethical considerations and industry developments into your teaching.Work collaboratively with academic and administrative colleagues to continuously improve the student learning experience.Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
About YouWe are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can bring real-world community services experience into the classroom.You will ideally have:A Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling or a related discipline.Current or recent industry experience within the community services sector.A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent.Experience delivering competency-based training and assessment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.A genuine commitment to student success, engagement and inclusive education.Good knowledge of relevant community services legislation, professional standards and ethical frameworks.The ability to develop and deliver practical, industry-relevant learning experiences.Strong organisational and administrative skills, including accurate assessment and student record-keeping.Confidence using digital learning platforms, Learning Management Systems and standard office software.A commitment to professional development and staying current with community services industry trends and best practice.
