Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Intrax Projects Division delivers medium and large-scale developments across commercial, residential, education, healthcare and industrial sectors, partnering with clients to create sustainable infrastructure and built environments for Australian communities.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role within our Building Services team, leading the design and delivery of mechanical services solutions across complex projects. This varied role combines technical excellence, project leadership and people development, with opportunities to mentor engineers, grow client relationships and contribute to the continued success of a multidisciplinary national business.

You will be accountable for:

• Plan and deliver engineering work in accordance with Australian Standards by managing risks, maintaining quality, meeting deadlines, and supporting others to do the same.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, encouraging diverse perspectives, and building strong cross-functional relationships.
• Provide reliable technical advice to clients and stakeholders, translating complex issues into practical solutions.
• Apply a solid understanding of project planning, financial impacts, and operational interdependencies to make informed decisions and ensure your work aligns with broader business and strategic outcomes.
• Communicate clearly and constructively with internal and external stakeholders, providing and receiving feedback openly.
• Deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes under pressure through discipline, adaptability, and persistence—while supporting change, helping others, and driving continuous improvement.

 Day-to-day, you may:  

• Provide skilled and experienced engineering solutions while driving quality improvements and guiding junior team members technically.
• Design mechanical services systems, such as air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems.
• Manage and deliver moderately sized projects within the Mechanical discipline and lead simple projects across multiple disciplines.
• Generate sales by identifying opportunities and contributing to business development.
• Liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
• Administer contracts and contractual documentation, including specifications.

You will be a strong match for this role if you have: 

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
• 5+ years experience in mechanical engineering
• Recognised as a Professional Engineer (PE)
• Excellent verbal communication skills, with ability to liaise in a friendly manner
• Knowledge of building services engineering and building code requirements
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the work environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
